Dear Visitor,
At the outset, on behalf of my staff and myself, I extend a warm and whole-hearted welcome to you to the premier technical institute of the state. This is a government institute, established way back in 1948 by Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai in the loving memory of his father Lalbhai Dalpatbhai. Hence this institute is named L.D.College of Engineering, Ahmedabad.
The mission of this institute is to provide relevant and quality technical education, manpower and research to the industry and society. The institute offers 14 undergraduate and 12 post graduate programmes. We are proud to have all our eligible undergraduate programmes accredited by NBA-AICTE, New Delhi.
The Institute receives grants from the State and Central government for development and maitenance. Besides this, the institute is funded by the world bank under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program as a lead centre in the state. Out of 20 crores alloted to us, we have modernized all our laboratories with international standard equipments, created e-library with e-books and e-journals and e-learning resources which are available on the campus intranet. The campus wide area network with Wi-Fi connectivity, 10Mbps leaseline and breadband internet connectivity is fully operational, providing internet and intranet connectivity to all faculty and computer centres. Software and learning resources have been installed in all departments to enhance the learning experience. Besides the central conference and board-room, every department is provided with air-conditioned seminar halls with multimedia and internet facilities. Every faculty member is provided with a PC or laptop. Other major activities on the campus are:-
(i) IGNOU programme for in-service engineers.
(ii) SCOPE, Language Lab to motivate & enhance English proficiency.
(iii) C+++ Government Program for computer Literacy.
From this academic year, the college is affiliated to G.T.U. All the syllabus are revised as per IIT-Bombay standards. I am sure your creative and technical abilities will definitely improve and enhance in this campus.
