Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering, Ahmedabad, India completed 60 years in June 2008 and has entered its 61st year. It is one of the oldest engineering institutes in Gujarat State started with the objective of imparting higher education, technological research and training in various fields of engineering. This Institute is affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Ahmedabad and accredited by NBA-AICTE, New Delhi.

It was established in June 1948 with a generous donation of Rs. 25 lacs and 31.2 hectares of land by the textile magnate Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai; so it was named as lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Enginnering. It is situated adjacent to Gujarat University building and is located at the nucleus of various national level institutes such as PRL, ATIRA, ISRO, IIM etc. The campus is having buildings for different departements, offices, hostels, principal residence & rector and warden quarters. The plinth area of college and hostel buildings admeasures 46,171 sq.m and 13.456 sq.m. respectively.

This institute is in constant liaison with major industries like ISRO, CII, GNPC, GEB, NID, IIM and PRL, AEC etc. through expert lectures, testing consultancy projects, investigations, and students training programs, workshops, and seminars.

               The government of India has selected our college as a leading institute under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) for the World Bank loan of 20 crores for laboratory modernization and development.

Training and Placement Cell

The institute maintains separate training and placement cell to facilitate the students for the placement activities. The placement cell also provides training to the students in communication skills, personality development, aptitude, computing skills, etc.It has the previllege of providing placement to the students in pre-final year itself. Job fairs are arranged by the cell for the students.
